Hill Climb Series third round on May 19

The third and final round of the 2007 Hill Climb Series sponsored by Petron Xtra Unleaded—Go for the Xtra miles, Stoplight TV, Manila Speedzone and supported by Citgo Philippines; Zoobic Safari; Michelin Tires and Speedlab flags off on May 19 on the historic road leading up to the Mount Samat Shrine in Bataan.

The event, which is organized by the Hill Climb Club of the Philippines and sanctioned by the Automobile Association of the Philippines (AAP), officially began with a competitors’ briefing on May 11 followed by official scrutineering on May16 at the Manila Speedzone in the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig.

The start list will be capped at 60 entries with drivers from various motorsports disciplines such as rallying, slalom, circuit racing and drifting led by current National Series points leader Carlos Anton and other racing stalwarts such as Vin Santos, Lito Ignacio, David Tanael, Anthony Halili, Carlo Garcia, Jan de la Merced, Dindo de Jesus and Boyet Policarpio, racing their specially-prepared cars against the clock on a four-kilometer route.

Participants will compete for honors in four categories, namely, Group 1 (1,600 cc and below), Group 2 (up to 2,000 cc), Group 3 (above 2,000 cc) and Historic Cars (built in 1975 or earlier). The fastest driver will also receive the coveted Best Time of the Day trophy. The series will decide who will be crowned the country’s first National Hill Climb Champion.
